LIHEAP provides energy assistance for residents in which a benefit is paid directly to the utility companies on behalf of income-eligible households.
United Way of Boone County will begin accepting appointments for the 2025-2026 heating season as follows:
Starting October 1, 2025 - the following income-eligible households may apply:
- Households with at least one member aged 60 or older
- Households with at least one person receiving social security disability benefits
- Households with at least one child age 5 or younger (requires child's certified birth certificate)
- Households that are disconnected or in Imminent Disconnect Status within the next 7 days
Starting November 3, 2025, income-eligiible households from the general population may apply.
To make an appointment, you must contact United Way of Boone County at (815) 544-3144. Walk-ins are prohibited.
A translator is required for non-English speaking households to schedule and attend appointments.
