BELVIDERE FAMILY YMCA220 West Locust Street “I became an emergency foster parent very quickly and unexpectedly during a financially strained moment in my life. I was a single full-time professional and had never parented before. I learned quickly that many daycare programs refuse to work with DCFS and those that do often ask for money upfront that I didn’t have. The YMCA was there for me. They provided a program my foster daughter looked forward to attending after school. The provided snacks held off her after school hunger until we could get home to cook which made home life happier all around.” ~Belvidere Foster Parent |

CATHOLIC CHARITIES521 S. State Street, Suite 2 "Laurie is a valuable, reliable, dependable resource. A one stop resource connection with compassion and confidential support that makes the outreach program like none other I have experienced. Her availability and follow-through is proof of the trust one can share when offered the chance. " ~High School Nurse The United Way of Boone County supports Catholic Charities Long Term Care Ombudsman Program, which advocates for individuals living in the four long-term care facilities in this community. Ombudsmen regularly visit residents, providing information and advocacy so they receive the highest quality of life and care possible. Education to residents, staff, and the community is also an integral part of the Ombudsman Program advocacy. The funding received as a United Way partner agency helps increase ombudsman outreach and presence in long-term care homes, working to ensure that residents have a voice in their lives and care. |

ROCKFORD SEXUAL ASSAULT COUNSELING860 Beister Drive, Suite 205
“I have great hope. I’ll be honest though, I still struggle with those feelings at times. It can seem like two steps forward and one step back some days. When something triggers a memory or a flashback. The difference now though is I have the skills to deal with those things, that are healthy and productive in my healing.. That is the difference with trauma-informed therapy.” ~A Thriving Survivor’s testimony shared at Dispelling the Darkness Candlelight Vigil 2025
“As an Advocate for RSAC I have seen firsthand the devastation one act of sexual assault can cause in a person and their loved ones. The sense of hurt, fear and injustice are just a few of the difficult emotions that overwhelm people after the initial act. The RSAC counseling program is offered free to walk with individuals as they become survivors who thrive.” ~Volunteer Advocate
