Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program
LIHEAP provides energy assistance for residents in which a benefit is paid directly to the utility companies on behalf of income-eligible households. United Way of Boone County will begin accepting appointments for the 2023-2024 heating season as follows:
Priority Group 1:
October 2, 2023 – First official call-in-date for seniors (60 and over) or individuals receiving Social Security Disability.
Priority Group 2:
November 1, 2023 – First official call-in-date for households with a child under the age of six or service disconnect.
Priority Group 3:
December 1, 2023 – First official call-in-date for the general population (households not eligible under Priority Groups 1 or 2).
Note: Walk-ins are prohibited. Applicants must call the United Way of Boone County office at (815) 544-3144 to make an appointment. A translator is required for Spanish speaking households to schedule and attend appointment.
In accordance with USA Patriot Act regulations, nonprofit organizations that receive funds from United Way of Boone County (including grants and donor designations) are required to have a current, signed copy of the Patriot Act Statement of Compliance on file.
